Title: Falling for Shakespeare
Author: Erin Butler
Publisher: Swoon Romance
Published: September 8th, 2015
Summary: Katie thought she knew where her life was going. She was dating the captain of the football team, had a BFF for life, and everyone at school wanted to be her. But then her pregnant teen sister’s pregnancy changes all that. Everyone dumps her, including her friends and boyfriend. Hey, Katie, welcome to life at the bottom of the high school food chain. This is how the other half lives. Then there’s Nick. He’s a straight-A student and self-professed geek who’s had a thing for her since middle school. He needs a date for the winter formal, and Katie needs something to keep her busy. Nick’s plight becomes her personal pet project. She will help him get over his insecurities and get a date. Besides, she was popular once. She knows how to get dates. But Nick has other plans. He's going to use these “dating” lessons as a way to win Katie's heart.
Guest Post:

We asked Erin Butler some of her tactics for confidence that she used in high school, and here's what she had to say on the topic!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was so shy in high school, worse than Nic in Falling for Shakespeare. Tell the guy I crushed on that I liked him? YEAH RIGHT. Never happened. I just got over it or moved on to the next crush. That’s one of the reasons why I wanted to write this story. I never would’ve told someone I liked them, but what if I had? Enter Nic, who I put through all this torture—watching Katie date the Captain of the football team, then fall off the highest rungs of the social ladder, and now be her good friend instead of something more—just to see what could’ve happened if I told my crush I liked him. Yes, I’m evil. Of course, unlike real life, I got to choose the outcome in Katie and Nic’s story.
If I could go back and interject in my teen social life, I’d tell myself to fake it before you make it. I’m convinced that’s what the real secret is. At my day job recently, I had to tell someone they didn’t get the promotion they wanted. This was the last thing I wanted to do. So, what I did was lie to myself. I told myself it was going to be fine because I had conversations like this all the time. (I don’t, nor do I particularly want to.) But I went in with that attitude. I had myself so hyped up that I went into that meeting and didn’t fumble for words or let the conversation turn into something negative, or any of the other various ways it could’ve went downhill. Basically, I nailed it and it’s because I faked it until I made it.
I also give myself pep talks, which mainly consist of me saying, “OK, Butler, get it together!” (Yes, my inner voice is a high school football coach.) These tend to help a lot, too. Oh, and if I know I’ve got to do something that’s going to make me revert back to my shy ways, I dress in my “power” clothes. I have different power clothes—some for work and some everyday ones. For work, I tend to wear a dress that makes me feel good. Again, faking it! For everyday power clothes, I’ll wear a band or a book t-shirt, like my DAUNTLESS SAYS JUMP shirt from Appraising Pages!  Something I feel good in and like expressing myself in.
